WHAT IS THE MORAL OF THE FABLE?

What do "The Hare and the Tortoise", ´"The Ant and the Grasshopper" and "The Lion and the Mouse" have in common? If you say that they are fables, you are right. And if you say that they are Aesop´s Fables, that´s even better.
Aesop´s fables are very well known all over the world. They have been translated to all languages, so children from different countries are very familiar with them. Their morals have become part of life and it is usual to hear them when you are given an advice.
Who was Aesop? It is said that he was a Greek slave who was freed because he was always telling his master these wonderful stories, but we are still not sure about this information. However, his stories have been written and published for a long time and we have had the opportunity to read them with you. Haven´t we?
Click on the link below to watch one of Aesop´s fable. Then tell us what you think the moral of the fable means.

WHAT DOES THE MORAL OF THE FABLE MEAN? USE YOUR OWN WORDS TO EXPLAIN IT.

PRESERVATION OR ECONOMIC SOLUTIONS?

What a difficult decision for the government!
You have learned at school about Yasuni Rainforest and the importance of preserving this place that has one of the most vast bio-diversity in the world. Home of indigenous tribes such as the Huaorani or the Tagaeri and Taromenani that live in isolation, this place is also very rich in oil reserves that would help improve the economy of our country-Ecuador.
The governement has finally said they will exploit 0.01% of the oil reserves promising not to damage the environment or the native groups in the area. This decision was made because there is a need of more hospitals, schools and basic services in our country.
So now people are debating if this is a wise decision or not. If there are other ways to improve our economy or exploiting the Yasuni is the only one. Meanwhile, natives are not very happy about the situation because they had bad experiences in the past. "Civilization" for them, is not that "civilized".
Watch these short videos and then answer the question.

END OF SCHOOL YEAR

The school year is coming to an end. There are some students who feel excited about it while some others feel sad. Going on vacation means changing your routine for a while; you don´t wake up that early in the morning, instead of attending school you may go to a vacational course or maybe you will travel to another country. But deep in your heart, there is a moment in which you do miss school. Don´t you??
What about the teachers? How do you think teachers feel about this time of the year? Read the poem below and get an idea of what all teachers would love to tell students.

You're a very special person,

And I want you to know.
How I loved to be your teacher,
How fast the weeks did go!
Please come back to visit me
As through the grades you grow,
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!!
The one thing I try to teach you
To last your whole life through,
Is to know that you are special
Just because you are you!!!
                   ---- by Tammi

HOW DO YOU THINK TEACHERS FEEL ABOUT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR?
We are expecting to hear your well supported comments about this theme.
One last thing.....ENJOY YOUR VACATION AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!
